Even though I try to sound just like myself
Sometimes I sound a bit like them
And they are They Might Be Giants
I’m not their only fan
I saw them in the parking lot after the show
And asked them to sign my arm
They said they’d punched out -they were off the clock
And I chased after them sad
So I got into my car and went home to play guitar
Or maybe the accordion
I borrowed it from Adrian
Played something Freudian
About the world coming to an end
They might be giants but I don’t think they are
‘Cause they play regular-sized guitars
But to a couple of ants trying to climb up their pants
They’re sure they are
Many years later up at 5am
To catch a morning show
A DJ in pajamas throwing t-shirts to the audience
And we got a breakfast burrito
Also saw their kid’s show at the Old Town School
From the basement beneath the stage
The kids jumped up and down
The puppets sang a song
It was time for bed, bed, bed
They might be giants but I don’t think they are
‘Cause they play regular-sized guitars
But to a couple of ants trying to climb up their pants
They’re sure they are
Sure they are!
