She
was only 16 when they put her away
All her friends and family said she was crazy
She saw things that others could not or would not see
Darkness in the daytime - black roses on the balcony
He was just a poor boy from the wrong side of the tracks
All he had was cigarettes and whiskey in a paper sack
He ran away but could not escape the facts
All alone - down on his luck - the odds against him stacked
It’s raining blood
Each drop brings so much pain
This life we live is only just a game
In her room she’s drawing snakes and skulls and bones
But her eyes are closed her hand moves on its own
He hitched a ride in a pickup truck and didn’t shed a tear
Didn’t know where he was headed - anywhere but here
She was haunted by visions of the world drowning in blood
She started screaming, “Help me! Help me! The flood!”
Just then it started raining as the truck pulled into town
He thanked the driver grabbed his bag and set out on his own
It’s raining blood
Each drop brings so much pain
This life we live is only just a game
From her window she saw him - standing in the rain
Trying to light a cigarette with wet matches in vain
He looked up and saw her - her eyes shown like the sun
And he knew now he was home
It’s raining blood
Each drop brings so much pain
This life we live is only just a game
