OoL: Origin(s) of Life

About OoL

OoL is a collaboration between Brandon MacInnis and Raven Hanna. The movie explores the various theories of how life came to form on this planet. Instead of adopting a traditional science documentary format, the movie uses a narrative structure to discuss the theories in hopes of getting a larger non-science audience.

Why microbes? The main characters of OoL are bacteria, and other single cell organisms. The reason for that apporach is that all life on the planet has evolved from common, single cell ancestor. And every living thing we are able to see (including ourselves) is made up of colonies of these single cells. Since the entire diversity of life on Earth came from one common ancestor, the theories of how life began start at the single cell level (with the exception of Creationism).

Production took place in Seattle during August, 2005 and a completed edit was finished in November 2005.
